As another seven days has passed we have another incredible week for the Nottingham music scene. This time, we have another headline Bodega show

GIG ONE

This Thursday The Bodega will be hosting a very special gig for retro pop duo APRIL TOWERS. Alex Noble and Charlie Burley will be celebrating the launch of their debut single “Arcadia” with one hell of a party. Be prepared for an evening of what can only be described as nostalgic 80s synthesized bliss, with a dynamic spectrum of instrumentation from guitars, organs, xylophones and even the occasional vibraphone! These lads take multitasking to a whole new level so come down for an ace show that can only lead to more exciting future prospects for them…

Supporting we have the Indie-Electronic sounds of ONE BIT. After supporting some big names around the UK such as Bondax, TCTS and Grades, these guys have perfected a live show that’ll have you both dancing all over the place, and leaving with a tune or two stuck in your head.

GIG TWO

This Friday, Recovery Rocks will be raising funds to feed Nottinghams homeless through the power of music at The Bodega! With support from some top local acts and a secret headliner (to be revealed in just a few more paragraphs!) this is shaping up to be an incredible night.

Kickstarting the evening are the Brit-Indie lads THE SIGHTS, bringing with them their rowdy, raucous sound and swagger-some showmanship which they’ve brought to various stages around Nottinghamshire since forming in 2010. Expect catchy riffs, huge sing-along hooklines, 90s BritPop bravado and some energetic live performance.

Also performing are super slick boy/girl duo Natasha Miller and Chris Howarth of ONEGIRLONEBOY delivering some Electro-pop. With the release of their latest Album ‘Beautiful Mess’ and having recently had their music played all over the telleh, these two are on a high and don’t plan to come down anytime soon. Prepare yourselves for the hauntingly beautiful vocals of Natasha, Chris’s intricate guitar skills and a blend of dark ambient beats.

You can also expect to find Notts Singer-Songwriter TIMOTHY J SIMPSON who will equip y’all with some serious alternative Indie Folk. Described as a musical concoction of “mercurial wit, oddball rhythmic guitar playing, spinning tales of everyday drudgery, love and habit”, Timothy puts on quite the performance.

Finally rounding things off, we have the secret headliners… who we can now reveal are the incredible trio that are THE SWIINES! Yup, they’ll be bringing their swaggerful Rock tunes to the evening to round off proceedings in the best possible way. Fresh off tour with JAKE BUGG, these fellas have perfected their live show, and we’re sure they’ll leave you astounded.

GIG THREE

This Friday, THE GOLDEN TROUBADOURS return for another stunning show at Hotel Deux Guitar Bar – the perfect spot to watch some tip top Folk Soul Blues! Not just a band, but a group of storytellers – get ready for some enchanting, slick Acoustic sounds that are mellow and relaxing for the soul.

Taking support from some very familiar faces, the lovely MOLLY & JACK will be performing bringing you another of their classic acoustic sets. Expect their usual fusion of crystal-clear harmonies, jazzy chords and catchy melodies. Also gracing the stage is sublime songstress ROBYN HUGHES-JONES with her beautifully unique vocal tones. Topped with charming stage presence, enchanting melodies and some “swagger scat singing.” And finally don’t forget to catch the endearing and beautifully airy vocals of LEAH SINEAD. Now often seen playing with her new band KETO you can catch her doing one of her breathtaking stripped back solo sets.

Yours in Love of New Music,
Katey Dawson/Sam Nahirny x

P.S The Dark-Popstress that is INDIANA is playing Rescue Rooms this Friday, and it definitely would have been a Top Three gig, had she not gone and made Nistory and sold the place out!
